MeHAF is committed to improving the health of everyone in Maine, especially people who are uninsured and medically underserved. One of our newest strategic priorities is the Achieving Better Health in Communities (ABHC) priority. This priority acknowledges that the promise of good health requires more than ensuring that people can visit their doctor or go to the hospital when they're sick. The everyday resources that are available where we live, work, and play significantly influence our health and the health of others in our communities.
In our new Healthy Community Grant Program (HCGP) under ABHC, MeHAF will be making up to 20 grants of between $15,000-20,000 for place-based, collaborative, community-led efforts that can help transform communities into supportive environments that enable people to live healthier lives.
In Phase One of the application process, we will be accepting brief letters of interest from prospective grant applicants for pre-planning activities. Letters of interest must be submitted online by April 12, 2013. Organizations selected using the criteria contained in the HCGP Request for Proposals formmust submit full proposals by June 28, 2013. The HCGP grant
period will run from November 1, 2012 through October 31, 2014.
